What is Inforgen?

Inforgen is EBS’s chosen platform, a web-based business management system designed to encompass people, process and performance. Inforgen integrates your business with your customers, partners and suppliers, maximising your opportunity, profitability and competitive advantage.

Both an off the shelf and bespoke product, Inforgen delivers a single solution to companies where all activity is managed and saved in a single data warehouse. It can either be fully managed as an ASP solution (which requires no in-house IT resource) or hosted by the client.  This flexibility allows customers to decide what is best for them.

What is off-the-shelf software?

Software that is ‘ready-made’ and available to the general market often delivered in an identical form.

What is bespoke software?

Software developed specifically for a set of users or customers. Used for client’s needs that cannot be satisfied by off the shelf software.

What is SaaS?

Software as a Service is a software model where the vendor develops an application and hosts and operates the application for use by its customers over the internet. Customers pay for using the software rather than buying the software and licences. A less expensive option and good for customers who don't want the the hassle and cost of buying licences etc.

What is E-commerce?

Electronic Commerce is the buying and selling of products and services over the internet incorporating the use of online transaction processing, automated data collection processes and in some cases inventory management systems.

What is ASP?

An Application Service Provider is a third party entity that deploys, hosts and manages access to a packaged application and delivers software-based services and solutions  on a subscription basis to customers across a wide area network from a central data center. This is a way for companies to outsource aspects of their IT needs.

How long will my project take?

Most of our projects are efficiently completed within two to three months. We have also worked extensively on complex projects that have taken over two years to complete. We continue to provide technical support and development services to our customers on an ongoing basis.

What happens if I have technical problems?

EBS has an experienced and highly skilled Technical Support team who are available to assist you with any technical problems you may have.

What is ERP?

Enterprise Resource Planning is a business management system that integrates all areas of business practice, usually supported by multi-module application software. Each ERP software module mimics a major functional area of an organisation (inventory management, product catalogue, marketing, sales, etc)

What is an infrastructure?

An infrastructure is a company’s network of mainframe servers, various routing equipment, PCs, hardware, software, etc.

How do I know that our data will be secure?

You have control of the system by access permissions and encryption, ensuring integrity and authenticity of data. Each and every element is controlled by user authentication, ensuring that users can only view information that is relevant to them. Users are assigned access as individuals or groups.  This can be matched to authorisation levels as well as relevant system functionality.

What is the extranet?

Similar to an Intranet except the information contained can be accessed externally by business partners.

What is a server?

A server is a computer system with a primary purpose to host files and applications and provide access to them on the network.

What is a host?

A host is any computer on a network that is a repository for services available to other computers on the network.

What is CSS?

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are a set of standards that describe how a document should be presented on a webpage.

What is HTML?

Hyper Text Mark-up Language is a computer programming language that helps control the format of documents and images on the web.

What is a search engine?

A search engine is a facility like Google, Yahoo and Ask Jeeves that enables you to find what you are looking for on the web using keywords to search for it.

What is SEO?

Search Engine Optimisation is the practice of optimising your website by improving internal and external aspects (key phrases in content, building links and marketing) in order to increase the traffic the site receives from search engines.

Will I receive progress reports?

Yes, we keep in touch with you throughout the project to ensure things match your specifications. We value your feedback as this is your business we are enhancing. Your project managers are available at any stage to assist and advise.
